Saturday Weigh In - 04/21

As I stepped on the scale this morning for my weekly weigh in I was anticipating another good week; I put in the hard work after all... 5 days of jogging/walking and 2 days of strength training              .  I have continued to eat delicious, healthy food while maintaining portion control and my daily food journal.

There were a couple hiccups the last couple days.  Thursday night I was a couple minutes from finishing my jog/walk when my treadmill suddenly turned itself off.  The jolt took me by surprise, immediately followed by panic!  OH NO - please don't let there be another problem with the treadmill!

I have an ongoing love/hate relationship with my treadmill.  I'm currently in a "love phase" - so the realization that I might not be able to exercise on the treadmill anymore was defeating.  This isn't the first time I've had issues with the treadmill - a couple years ago I was tempted to buy a new treadmill because the repair costs were so high but couldn't find another treadmill with the same features in my price range.  I had the walking belt and a damaged roller replaced to the tune of $400+ - ummm, yeah - I wasn't happy about the expense and how long it took to get repaired either!  A month after the treadmill was "fixed" and I attempted to use it it ran noisily for a couple minutes and ultimately stopped altogether.
Another week of waiting for the repair guy - followed by the news I would need to spend another $200+ to replace the electronic board AND have to wait a couple weeks for the parts to come in before scheduling the repair... Seriously?  !@#$%^&*()  By the time it was repaired I ended up in a "hate phase" with the treadmill and have rarely used the machine since until 4 weeks ago when I needed to nurse my feet back to health (I developed plantar fasciitis because my old running shoes were too worn out and I kept increasing my mileage without giving my body a rest period).  The treadmill is much softer on my feet (vs the concrete sidewalk) so I've switched primarily to jogging/walking on the treadmill instead of outside, around the block.

After some Goggle searching I think the problem with the treadmill is because the walking belt needs to be lubricated - this is a quick, easy and cheap fix!  I ordered treadmill lubricant from Amazon... I'm really hoping that resolves the problem!  Worse case scenario I'll just have to go back to jogging/walking outside.

Of course when it rains is pours... yesterday I took out my kitchen scale to measure a portion for lunch and it wouldn't turn on.  I already replaced the battery a couple weeks ago so I knew that wasn't the problem - but I changed the battery just in case and it still wouldn't turn on.  COME ON!  Back to Amazon I went to order a new scale too.  I decided on the EatSmart kitchen scale because I really love my EatSmart bathroom scale and it had really great reviews.  Sadly, even with upgrading to one-day shipping the soonest the scale would be here is Monday... DRATS!

Now, to this week's progress...

Current weight: 244.6
Last week's weight: 247.8

Difference: -3.2 lbs
Total lost: -31.4 lbs

Today is a very emotional day for me! Not only did I have an awesome loss this week - I have officially lost 30+ pounds (in 11 weeks)... yes, Yes. YES!

I picked out something to wear and even played with a little makeup because I hate how I always look so drab in my photos.  I truly can't remember the last time I wore makeup - but when I finished and stepped back I said, "Wow, I FEEL pretty!"  {Followed by the song, I Feel Pretty from West Side Story, popping in my head}  HAHA!

After uploading my photo I was a bit disappointed.  I've lost 30+ pounds and I couldn't really "see" it in my photo.  I pulled up my before picture and that's when I noticed the differences!  My face is slimmer and I don't look as bulky - oh, and I couldn't have buttoned that jean jacket back then!  While I may abhor my before picture - I'm certainly glad I have it...

    1. Masha'Allah - alhamdulillah everything has been fairly easy so far - I just hope this journey continues to go as smoothly, insha'Allah! Of course as much effort as I make on losing all this weight - I really should make the same effort on my deen; I feel quite guilty!

    1. Thank you so much Teressa! I'm thinking I might have to deconstruct that jean jacket when it no longer fits me so I can make a smaller version (the cut of the jacket is quite flattering). :D
